An LED bar graph display is a row of separate, evenly spaced LED bars in one package. Each bar is lit on its own, so the number of lit bars shows a level at a glance: battery charge, audio volume, signal strength or the progress of a process. It shows a level, not an exact number.
Use a bar graph when the user only needs to see "how much" quickly. When they need to read the exact value, a 7-segment display shows the digits. When you need symbols or icons as well, look at a dot matrix display.
